So last night was our final night for the walk to run program. V had been complaining of leg pain on Sunday, I pretty much figured it was growing pains. Immediately after starting our 30 minutes of straight running, V started complaining and was a disaster, not even funny.
I suggested about a half mile in, we turn back and go home. (But there was a pot luck at the end, and he didn't want to stop) He kept going. Our friend Britt who is super fast and won the half marathon I ran back in September, circled back and V all of a sudden took off. We had a good 3 miler, and John (a volunteer) kept circling back to make sure we were ok. We needed him to be our sweeper. So thankful for him. He is super fast, he also ran the full marathon and when I finished the half, he showed up just after me and he finished the full. He probably started before me, but super fast!
Anyway..afterwards we had awards, food, and fun.
Looking strong, this is V's friend Mike. At the end of the run, V told me "I am strong, I have this" then we sprinted and I told him I was going to try to beat him. He burst out and I backed off. I knew how hard this run had been for him, and I didn't want to pass him at that point.
Here are a few more pictures....
This program was so amazing. We loved being part of the program. The volunteers are so fabulous as well as the others.
