Tonight we had our Walk to Run with Dick Ponds. We missed two weeks ago, after I had run my horrible 12 miler. Then last week was Labor Day. So we hadn't been there in 3 weeks. It was really good to see some friendly faces. Everyone is so supportive there. We went out to walk 3 run 7. I remember last session thinking there was no way I could run 6..but today..I felt "good". I was running with Brit @ Chicago Runner Girl and she is so amazing. She is so friendly, and so supportive.
Anyway...I was keeping a good pace, running and chatting with Brit, and we turned around at 15 minutes. V has just declared prior to turning around he was running with his friend Mike. Mike said it was ok, and so they were off. We turned around and I felt good, and it was downhill, and I making good strides. All of a sudden as I was passing someone I heard the all so familiar steps from V. He raced up ahead to catch up to me. Then he pushed passed me, and we kept going. So I had to even push it harder. V was running at a good pace. I was pushing to keep up. All of a sudden I heard Mike's steps behind me and I said, "Thank you Mike". As he caught up to V and reeled him in.
We pushed forward and circled the parking lot and finished 2.5 miles in 30 minutes. This in 89 degree heat. I am feeling some soreness in my hit, but my knee is good! This means another 12 minute mile pace! I am super excited.
After we were done one gal from our original walk to run program (she is doing it again too) came up to me and told me I am looking very slender. Wow..what a compliment!!! I have noticed differences..but with my lack of running and my clothes really not feeling any looser. :)
And lastly, my meeting I was nervous about went well, I think. :)
Tell me about your last good run.
Tell me your favorite compliment from someone.
Lastly, tell me how much you love to run with other runners. They really make it so much better.
