Today was my third half marathon with Fox Valley Marathon.
This is by far my favorite venue. We run along the Fox Valley River, through woods, and a bit on the street. Everyone is soo nice, and a lot of people give support on the trail. I decided last night after speaking with Coach Britt, that I am going out and having fun. I high fived all kids and adults that I came close enough to do it without seeming freaky about it. I thanked the volunteers and public, for being out there supporting us.
The best part? I got news this morning that a friend of mine was running. We met up at the 12 mile pacing mile
I wore a sweater to throw away as well as gloves, since it was 48 out.
We ran walk 2, run 2. Jean kept track of our time and I told her how far we had gone. She was a great running partner. She ran three 5ks Friday and Saturday, so her legs weren't very fresh. She did great, and it was a good time to get to know her better. At about 12 miles, she needed more of a break, and I was itching to be done, so we agreed I would continue on.
I won't lie. I was hurting. I was really trying to keep my mental game on. I was running and as I went to turn to run down the shoot, I heard my name, but I was really focused, I realize after the fact, that it was some other runner bloggers. I felt bad that I really didn't give them the recognition they deserved.
So I ended up finishing in 2:58:12. I wasn't pushing for a time. But secretly hoping to beat last year's time of 3:01.
So the overview is..it is a great race! My third year to do it this year, and plan to sign up again next year.
I just need to convince Jean to do it again!
