I am behind over here in the blogging world. We have been busy as usual, as V starts school tomorrow! I can't believe I am going to have a first grader. It doesn't seem possible.
V had his training run yesterday morning, and then had a birthday party at a local karate studio in the afternoon. I ended up leaving him behind at the party. I ended up going to Noodles and Co for a quick lunch and then I wandered around Whole Foods, trying to figure out peanut butter is the best. I only walked out with my Honey Stinger chews, two bite brownies (they always get me with a sample, it is the same way at Costco) and a watermelon. Probably my cheapest visit to Whole Foods. I headed back towards the party about 30 minutes before it was over. I get back and learned that V broke a board with his hand. Now he wants to break more boards. I kind of wish I stayed to see him break a board. I don't think I can swing the cost of martial arts. We can't do all the things anyway...I want to get him back into swimming lessons, so he can learn the strokes and how to dive. He is doing soccer this fall, and we are doing the running thing.
The one thing that surprised me was that three of the parents were smoking..???? Seriously? I understand everyone has an 'out' but at a children's birthday party? (they were outside, they were not smoking inside the studio)
Anyway, I took tomorrow off to take V to school, and then I am doing my 12 miler. Have you noticed we are to be super hot tomorrow?? Yay for me! :/ So I have decided I am going to go to where there are two lakes and if you go around each it is approximately 2 miles, so at any given point I will be only about a mile away from my car. I plan on packing a cooler with ice/water/watermelon/Gatorade. So hopefully it won't be as bad as my original plan, to run 6 miles out and 6 miles back to my car.
Did you run a long run this weekend? If so, where do you run?
Can you believe V will be in first grade?
Any tips for my long run tomorrow??
