So if you were expecting to come here and see my peppy recap of my 12 miles, you should leave now. This was not the run I was hoping for. Actually, I knew it was going to be hard, but I felt I had made some good alterations and fuel choices.
I woke up this morning with an upset stomach. I completely forgot how McDonald's (I got a happy meal) can really mess me up. After all of that, I thought I was ok. I had an English muffin with peanut butter. I dropped V off at his first day of school (OK let's elaborate more on that)
So after that I headed over to a local forest preserve that has two lakes and if you circle both, you end up with just over 2 miles. One lake had zero shade. The other one had about 60% shade. So I finished my first 4 miles and was burping up breakfast, I ate too much watermelon, and ended up with a horrible belly ache. I finished 2 more miles, talked with a fisherman, and headed back to the car for my Honey Stinger jelly bites. Again...my belly wasn't pleased. At this point it was getting hot. No doubt about it. I kept going, but it was becoming more walking vs running. The fisherman kept wanting to chat..I know more about him, than I was expecting. (i.e. great-grandpa, was in the Korean war, has knee issues, was a drill sergeant, etc.)
So anyway...back to the day...I ended up walking the last 3 miles. I had a rough time. I am not going to lie. This was not an ideal run by any means. I did finish. I am glad it is over. I am extremely sore. I have blisters and chaffing.
Please keep in mind, this is a PG blog and the other regions have not been photographed.
So the bottom line is
Super slow. I am so happy no one came with me on this run. I would have held them back. I am also happy to report, no complaint of knee pain. This is a huge improvement. (Please disregard the amount of salt on my watch) It was 92 outside with a heat index of 100.
I also love that dailymile.com says I burned over 2200 calories!
So tell me..you had bad runs too right?
Do you know of a chaffing product company who will sponsor me? I think I would be a good test subject.
